DRUMSTICK LEAVES GRAVY



Drumstick leaves are full of IRON energy, and Blood Purifier, Prepare this dish for monthly once with gravy, palya and rasam. 

INGREDIENTS

  1. Drumstick leaves        1 cup
  2. Tur dhal                      1/2 cup
  3. Tomato                        2 nos
  4. Small onion                 10
  5. Salt                               2 tsp
  6. Turmeric                      1 tsp
  7. Castor oil                     1 tsp
  8. Tamarind paste            1 tbsp
  9. Coriander leaves         handful
FOR GRINDING MASALA
  1. Tur dhal                     2 tbsp
  2. Ginger                       1/4"
  3. Garlic                        5 flakes
  4. Red chilies                5
  5. Curry leaves             5
  6. Coriander seeds        1 tbsp
  7. Cumin                       1 tsp
  8. Pepper                       1 tsp
FOR SEASONING
  1. Badaga                   1 tsp
  2. Hing                       1/4 tsp
  3. Curry leaves           few
  4. Oil                          1 tbsp
METHOD
  • Pressure cook tur dhal adding castor oil, turmeric for 3 whistles and mash.
  • Fry the masala in 1 tsp of oil, and grind to a smooth paste.
  • Wash drumstick leaves, cut onion, tomatoes.
  • Add to the cooked dhal stir in the ground masala.
  • Add salt, tamarind paste and cook for another 2 whistles.
  • Add seasoning and pour over the gravy and stir, garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve with ghee, and chapati.
NOTE"-
  • Substitute mustard seeds instead of Badaga.
