Drumstick leaves are full of IRON energy, and Blood Purifier, Prepare this dish for monthly once with gravy, palya and rasam.
INGREDIENTS
- Drumstick leaves 1 cup
- Tur dhal 1/2 cup
- Tomato 2 nos
- Small onion 10
- Salt 2 tsp
- Turmeric 1 tsp
- Castor oil 1 tsp
- Tamarind paste 1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves handful
FOR GRINDING MASALA
- Tur dhal 2 tbsp
- Ginger 1/4"
- Garlic 5 flakes
- Red chilies 5
- Curry leaves 5
- Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
- Cumin 1 tsp
- Pepper 1 tsp
FOR SEASONING
- Badaga 1 tsp
- Hing 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves few
- Oil 1 tbsp
METHOD
- Pressure cook tur dhal adding castor oil, turmeric for 3 whistles and mash.
- Fry the masala in 1 tsp of oil, and grind to a smooth paste.
- Wash drumstick leaves, cut onion, tomatoes.
- Add to the cooked dhal stir in the ground masala.
- Add salt, tamarind paste and cook for another 2 whistles.
- Add seasoning and pour over the gravy and stir, garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve with ghee, and chapati.
