Channa dhal poriyal,palya

Ingredients

  1. Channa dhal                  1 cup
  2. Onion                            2 nos
  3. Green chilis                  6
  4. Ginger-Garlic paste      1 tsp
  5. Coconut                        1/2 cup grated
  6. Coriander leaves          handful 
  7. Water                           4 cups 
  8. Salt                               1 tsp
For seasoning
  1. Oil                                 1 tbsp
  2. Mustard seeds               1 tsp
  3. Urad dhal                      1 tsp
  4. Bengal gram                 1 tsp
  5. Asafoetida                    1/4 tsp
  6. Curry leaves                 10
Method
  • Soak dhal for at least 8 hours. 
  • Boil the dhal adding water and salt for 8 whistles.
  • Drain water and cool down.
  • Slice onion, Chop coriander leaves, Slit chilis
  • Heat oil in a Kadai add seasoning, curry leaves, asafoetida.
  • Add onion and chilis fry till translucent.
  • Now add ginger-garlic paste mix up and close the lid.
  • Fry for 2 minutes and add boiled channa.
  • Mix them and add coconut, close the lid for 2 minutes.
  • Finally add coriander leaves and serve.
