ONION SAMBAR FOR IDLY,DOSA PANIYARAM-1

Ingredients:
  • Coconut                     -    1/2 grated
  • Onion                        -    4 sliced
  • Green chillies             -    10 slit
  • Ginger                       -    1/4"
  • Garlic                        -    3pods
  • Turmeric                    -   1/3tsp
  • Tomato                      -   1 chopped
  • Curry leaves               -    few
  • Coriander leaves        -    little
  • Sombu[fennel]           -    1tsp
  • Patta                         -    1"
  • Lavang                      -   5
  • Oil                            -   3tbsp
  • Roasted gram            -   2tbsp
  • Water                        -  5cups
  • Salt                           -   1 1/2tsp
For Seasoning:
  • Mustard seeds           -  1/4tsp
  • Urad dhal                  -  1/4tsp
  • Bengal gram dhal       -  1/4tsp
Method:

  • Grind coconut , roasted gram , sombu , patta , lavang , ginger , garlic to a course paste.
  • Heat oil add seasoning.
  • Add curry leaves, onion and chillies.Fry for 2 or 3 minutes.
  • Add masala paste, turmeric , water and salt.
  • Bring to boil and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve with idly , dosa , paniaram.
For egg paniyaram

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup idly dough
Mix both and fry as paniyaram. Serve with chutney.
